ebay account and unauthorised paypal link

Somebody has linked their PayPal account to my EBAY Account without me knowing. How on earth could they do this and what am at risk of? I have removed the link, changed my passwords, but want to know how it could happen and what could/still be done to my account and other aspects of my computer.
